The “Plays” book by the great Azerbaijani playwright Huseyn Javid has been published in Turkish.
“Elchi” reports that the book was created based on a project by the Azerbaijani Cultural Center at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Turkey.
The first volume of the book “Huseyn Javid – Plays” has been published in Turkish by “Perge” publishing house in Ankara.
The works were translated into Turkish by Mehdi Genceli, with the preface and editing by academician Rafael Huseynov.
In the preface, academician Rafael Huseynov emphasizes that Huseyn Javid is one of the greatest poets, playwrights, and thinkers not only of Azerbaijan but of the entire Turkic world.
The publication includes Huseyn Javid’s famous dramatic works such as “Sheikh Sanan”, “The Abyss”, “The Devil”, “The Prophet”, “Lame Timur”, and “Khayyam”. The publication of other works by Huseyn Javid in Turkish is planned in the second and third volumes in the future.
The book is dedicated to the dear memory of Huseyn Javid and to the dear memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who rendered exceptional services in returning his literary heritage to the people.
The main purpose of the publication is to convey Huseyn Javid’s rich dramatic heritage to Turkish readers, to introduce his creativity to a wider audience, and to strengthen the promotion of Azerbaijani classical literature in the brotherly country.
This project, implemented by the Azerbaijani Cultural Center, is of particular importance for the research and promotion of our national literary heritage in Turkey, for bringing the works of Azerbaijani classics to a wider audience, and for conveying the common spiritual values of our peoples to future generations.
Presentation ceremonies for the book “Huseyn Javid – Plays” are planned to be held in Azerbaijan and Turkey.
