Kim Jong Un visits China via newly opened bridge

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in the Chinese border city of Dandong via a newly opened bridge connecting the two countries.

elchi reports, citing the Yonhap agency, that Kim Jong Un entered Dandong by crossing the bridge over the Amnok River.

The bridge, which connects the North Korean border city of Sinuiju with Dandong, China, has been opened for use this month after a 12-year delay. The opening of the bridge is considered significant for strengthening economic ties between Pyongyang and Beijing.

The construction of the four-lane bridge, 3,026 meters long, was completed in 2014. China invested approximately 310 million US dollars in the project. However, the bridge’s opening was delayed by 12 years due to the North Korean side’s failure to complete the construction of connecting roads and customs infrastructure.
