“Everyone fell in love with this tournament and everyone wants it to be re-organized immediately.”
elchi reports that this was stated by Arsène Wenger, Head of FIFA’s Global Football Development Department, in a statement to the press service of the organization regarding the U-15 World Championship and Festival held in Baku.
The expert highly appreciated the format of the competition. He said that reducing the number of players on the field helps to eliminate the difference between teams:
“At the same time, the intensity of each match and the players’ determination were at a very high level.”
Wenger also emphasized his satisfaction with the technical level of the tournament:
“This game format requires players to have high attention and concentration. They have also developed these qualities. The technical level was very high. Overall, we saw a lot of fast transitions from one side of the field to the other. This format reduces the waiting time needed for an 11-on-11 game. As soon as the ball is won, a dangerous attack can be organized immediately. This keeps the fans’ attention constantly on the game and allows them to enjoy football.”
