Voting to be held in Bulgaria for presidential elections tomorrow

Voting will be held in Bulgaria for presidential and vice-presidential elections tomorrow.

elchi reports that 27 candidate pairs will compete for the positions of president and vice-president. There are approximately 6.6 million registered voters in the country.

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), a total of 613 polling stations will be established in 60 countries abroad. 78 polling stations will operate in 18 provinces of Turkey, where Bulgarian citizens are in the majority.

82 polling stations will be established in Great Britain, where the Bulgarian diaspora is numerous, 70 in Germany, 67 in Spain, and 44 in the USA.

Analysts predict that none of the 27 candidates will win in the first round.

To win the first round of elections, one of the candidates must win an absolute majority of the votes. In addition, for the vote to be considered valid, more than 50 percent of registered voters must participate in the elections.

Voter turnout is expected to be less than 40 percent. In this case, the second round of the presidential elections will be held on November 1.

Based on public opinion polls, the current president Iliana Yotova and former prime minister Andrey Gyurov are among the main presidential candidates.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has called on citizens to participate in the elections.

It should be noted that the last presidential elections in Bulgaria were held on November 14, 2021. The second round of those elections took place on November 21.
