FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Organizing Committee Chairman Samir Sharifov, AFFA President Rovshan Najaf, and AFFA officials visited the Hovsan Race Complex as part of the first match day of the FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival 2026.
elchi reports that during the visit, officials familiarized themselves with the conditions created at the complex and watched the first matches of the tournament. A total of 92 games will be played at the Hovsan Race Complex on the first match day.
The FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival 2026 covers the period from October 22 to 30. The first matches of the tournament started today, October 24. The inaugural tournament brings together young football talents from 189 FIFA member associations in Baku.
The first match day will continue this evening at the “Baku Crystal Hall”. The official opening ceremony of the tournament will be held here, followed by a match between the national team of Azerbaijan and the team of East Timor.
The visit of high-level guests reflects the close cooperation between FIFA, AFFA, and local organizing bodies. The FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival 2026 aims to contribute to the development of young footballers, the exchange of international experience, and the global development of football.
