Azerbaijan wins against Austria in judo world championship in Baku

On the final day of the judo world championship for adults held in Baku, the Azerbaijani national team faced the Austrian team in the mixed team competition.

“Elchi” reports that our team, meeting their opponent in the 1/16 finals, rejoiced in a 4:0 victory.

The first point for the team was won by Madina Kaisinova in the women’s +70 kg weight category. She won against Maria Höllwart.

Later, Zelim Kotsoyev in the men’s +90 kg weight category defeated Movli Borçaşvili, making the score 2:0.

In the 57 kg category, Khadija Gadashova defeated Laura Kallinger. Afterwards, Rashid Mammadaliyev in the 73 kg weight category overcame Firas Ben Saad, securing the fourth victory for the Azerbaijani national team.

Thus, with a 4:0 advantage in the match, the national team finished the competition ahead of schedule and qualified for the 1/8 finals.

The Azerbaijani team will face the Japanese team in the next stage.

Gultaj Mammadaliyeva, Khadija Gadashova (both 57 kg), Sudaba Agayeva, Hanna Zaytseva (both 70 kg), and Madina Kaisinova (+70 kg) are part of the Azerbaijani women’s team.

From the men’s side, Rashid Mammadaliyev, Ruslan Pashayev (both 73 kg), Zelim Tchaev, Suleyman Shukurov (both 90 kg), Zelim Kotsoyev, and Ushangi Kokauri (both +90 kg) have been included in the team.

On the eighth day of the competition, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, 192 judokas from 18 countries participated in the team competition.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team finished the individual competitions with a record result – 7 medals. Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) won gold, Zelim Tchaev (81 kg), Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) won silver, and Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), Omar Rajabli (81 kg), Murad Fataliyev (90 kg), and Kenan Nasibov (+100 kg) won bronze medals.
