Ukraine’s Army Strikes Intercontinental Missile Service Center in Russia

Ukraine’s Armed Forces (UAF) struck the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) disposal center located near the settlement of Syrovatikha in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region on the night of October 9.

“Elchi” reports, citing “Defense Express,” that according to the General Staff of the UAF, the facility was used for the production of explosive materials and components of rocket fuel.

The center was established in 1991 on the basis of military unit No. 32193. Initially, it was involved in the disposal of Soviet-made intercontinental missiles within the framework of strategic offensive arms reduction treaties. In total, 448 R-36 and UR-100N UTTKh missiles were destroyed at the facility.

Later, the facility also provided maintenance for R-36M “Voyevoda” missiles and their conversion into “Dnepr” carrier rockets.

According to the publication, after the “Dnepr” program was halted in 2015, the center continued to supply components of liquid rocket fuel for Russia’s space programs.

The extent of the damage to the facility as a result of the strike is not yet known.
