The Ministry of Emergency Situations has appealed to the public on the safe operation of electric charging stations.
This was reported to elchi by the Press Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
It was stated that due to the widespread use of electric vehicles in our country recently, the number of electric charging stations is also constantly increasing:
“However, it should be taken into account that non-compliance with the requirements of relevant norms and rules during the installation and operation of electric charging stations can lead to fires and other dangerous situations, resulting in damage to people’s lives and health, as well as property.
Thus, violation of relevant norms and rules, including fire safety requirements, during the installation and operation of these devices can lead to overheating of equipment, short circuits, and consequently, fires and severe consequences. In particular, the arbitrary installation of electric charging stations in underground parking lots of multi-story residential buildings without considering the relevant requirements and technical specifications, the use of cables and equipment not suitable for electrical loads, improper cable laying, as well as the failure to ensure necessary protective measures for fire safety significantly increase the risk of fire.
Furthermore, the lack of regular monitoring of the technical condition of electric charging equipment, the use of damaged cables and equipment, the failure to promptly eliminate malfunctions, and the uncontrolled charging process without considering safety requirements also create a fire hazard.
In connection with the above, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to individuals and legal entities engaged in the installation and operation of electric charging stations, as well as owners of electric vehicles, urging them to strictly adhere to the relevant safety rules.
Thus, electric charging stations must be installed in accordance with the “Rules for the Installation of Electrical Equipment” and the technical specifications approved by the energy supply company, and relevant safety requirements must be strictly observed.
It should be especially noted that it is dangerous to use an electric charging station if the device, charging cable, or port is damaged, if there is a smell of burning insulation, smoke, or unusual noise. Also, it is unacceptable to use cables with damaged insulation, exposed conductors, to keep them under voltage, and to connect them to the charging cable.
Remember: Indifference to rules is a threat to our lives!
In case of danger, call 112!
