More than six countries want to join the Mecca agreement signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
“Elchi” reports, citing “Haber Global”, that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar did not disclose the names of the countries.
It has been discussed that in addition to Egypt and Bangladesh, Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain may join the alliance. The first expansion meetings of the alliance will begin after the extraordinary meeting to be held in Riyadh.
It was stated that Egypt and Bangladesh are among the countries most discussed for joining the alliance.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also stated in an announcement in August that Egypt could join the alliance. Cairo has not yet made its decision. Bangladesh is among the countries that have given positive messages regarding the alliance.
It was added that Syria and Iran are also among the countries that can sign the Mecca agreement.
It is recalled that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan signed the Mecca agreement on joint defense, according to which an armed attack on one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all participants of the agreement.
