At the arena of the MES Sports and Health Club, a national championship for children, a national championship for 16-21 year olds, and the traditional “Korean Ambassador’s Cup” in taekwondo were held, co-organized by the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Azerbaijan.
According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry, nearly 500 children, teenagers, and young athletes from 72 clubs across various cities and regions of the republic participated in the competitions to test their strength.
Members of the MES Sports and Health Club’s team, consisting of children, teenagers, and young athletes, achieved high results under the leadership of the club’s employee, warrant officer Khayala Agayeva, and coach Sanan Hashimov. In the national championship for children, Ruqayya Suleymanli won first place in the 33kg weight category, defeating all her opponents. Additionally, another team member, Madina Heydarzada, won a bronze medal in the 48kg weight category. In the national championship for 16-21 year olds, Nilufar Borji (49kg), Meylin Mammad-zada (62kg), and Narmin Ensari (67kg) won gold medals among the girls. Other team members, Nilufar Suleymanli (49kg) and Samarrukh Osmanova (53kg), won silver medals. In the “Korean Ambassador’s Cup” competition, Nilufar Borji won gold (49kg), Nilufar Suleymanova won silver (49kg), and Gulnar Rasulzada won bronze (55kg).
In total, the MES team was awarded a gold medal in the team competitions at the national championship for children and the national championship for 16-21 year olds, and a bronze medal at the “Korean Ambassador’s Cup”.
The winners were presented with cups, medals, and diplomas established by the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation.
