Those whose childhood and adolescence coincided with the late 1980s and early 1990s may remember that some mischievous children in those days constantly carried stones in their pockets. Naturally, small stones could not cause any serious injury. Three or four pebbles were good for nothing other than attracting the attention of bystanders and scaring the other side. Everyone in school and the neighborhood knew such children and avoided interacting with them. As for being friends with them, that was out of the question. Today, when observing some processes taking place in the modern system of international relations, one involuntarily recalls the actions of those mischievous children from the 1980s.

He noted that some states and international organizations, like the mischievous children of the 1980s we mentioned, still carry pebbles in their pockets. We all know very well that one of the targets where these “stones” are regularly thrown is precisely Azerbaijan-Turkey-Azerbaijan relations. It seems that the fact that Azerbaijan and Turkey, which have introduced a new model of cooperation to the international relations system, which is becoming increasingly enriched with conflict, mutual suspicion, and hesitations that stifle communication, act from a unified position in the global geopolitical space has caused very serious concern for certain players. Yes, in recent years, the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey have been subjected to treacherous attacks under various pretexts. However, biased manipulators should never forget that the development of brotherly Turkey is an untouchable subject for the Azerbaijani people. The inviolability of the existing relations between the two brotherly states is the “red line” of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. The relations between our states do not just fit into the format of bilateral brotherly ties. The Azerbaijan-Turkey tandem has become an important international factor that must be taken into account in the global system of relations. The world community knows well that in the international relations system, both Azerbaijan and Turkey, as independent actors, already have not one, but two voices. Thus, Azerbaijan and Turkey are presenting a new reliable model of behavior to the modern international relations system.
The political scientist noted that the relations between our states have not depended and will not depend on any political conjuncture. The fleeting geopolitical interests of some cannot defeat the eternal national and cultural identity. Pay attention to the essence and content of the factors that unite us: religion, history, geography, language, reliable relations between heads of state, economic interests, common ideas regarding the development of the region, reliable relations tested by concrete events, the mental qualities of both peoples, historical figures, and much more… Of course, it is impossible to shake such closeness. As a result of biased interventions, temporary “gaps” that may arise in a certain direction of existing relations can be immediately compensated by dozens of other successful and indisputable factors. “Mischievous” manipulators carrying “stones” in their pockets should not forget that pebbles thrown at a mountain cannot harm it. On the contrary, the thrown stones can only make the mountain even bigger.

The aforementioned “mountain,” in turn, is one of the important peaks of the Turkic world. The phone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on September 27 once again demonstrated how petty and small the pebbles thrown in recent days are in the face of the majestic Azerbaijan-Turkey mountain. The “fans” of the relations between the two brotherly countries should also not forget that the pebbles they carry in their pockets prevent them from walking comfortably.”
