Former President Aleksandar Vucic, who was nominated for the position of prime minister by the ruling Progressive Party (SPP) in Serbia for the upcoming parliamentary elections, has filmed a campaign video.
“Elchi” reports, citing Musavat.com, that in the video, he plays the role of a waiter while rejecting the idea of joining NATO. The post is available on his Instagram page.
In the video, a family is sitting at a table ordering at a restaurant. One member wants no sanctions against Russia and the preservation of Kosovo, another wants an increase in salaries and pensions, and the third wants Serbia’s membership in the European Union and NATO.
Then Vucic appears in the video, taking the “orders” of the customers throughout the entire duration. “We don’t have NATO,” Vucic replies to one of the requests.
The video is a promotional advertisement for the upcoming parliamentary vote. On September 9, Aleksandar Vucic signed a decree on the dissolution of parliament and scheduled early general elections for October 25. On September 15, the Central Election Commission of Serbia also registered the “Student List – Students Win” movement for the elections. Several parties have withdrawn from the vote to support the movement.
Slavenko Terzic, the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Russian Federation, stated that if the “Student List” wins the upcoming elections in Serbia, Belgrade will most likely impose sanctions against Russia. However, the former diplomat explains that the political force has little chance of winning because the movement’s representatives have different values.
