The Ministry of Emergency Situations has appealed to the population living in rural areas regarding fire safety.
“Elchi” reports that the appeal states:
“In accordance with its mandate, the Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to take necessary measures to ensure fire safety in the country. In this context, an analysis of fire incidents shows that a portion of the recorded fires occurs in haystacks stored in the backyards of private residential houses in villages and settlements. Despite the mass awareness-raising work carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, it is regrettable to note that some citizens still store hay in the attics of residential houses and auxiliary buildings, as well as in the immediate vicinity of buildings and under overhead power lines. This constitutes a gross violation of fire safety regulations, resulting in fire incidents that lead to severe consequences. Specifically, sudden sparks from tandoors widely used in rural areas, as well as from chimney flues, short circuits in electrical wiring, careless handling of fire, including discarded cigarette butts, children playing with fire unsupervised, and other reasons, easily ignite highly flammable haystacks, leading to tragic outcomes.”
It was stated that it is sufficient to mention just one fact: 22 such fire incidents have been recorded during the elapsed days of September of the current year alone. In connection with the above, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to citizens living in rural areas, including those engaged in hay procurement, and urges them to strictly observe fire safety rules. It should be especially noted that, according to existing standards, fire safety distances of at least 50 meters between haystacks and buildings, 15 meters from power lines, and 20 meters from roads must be maintained.
