More than two tons of drugs seized in Turkey, 424 people arrested

An operation against drug traffickers has been carried out in Turkey, more than 2 tons of drugs have been seized, and 424 people have been arrested.

“Elchi” reports, citing “TRT Haber”, that the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that 2 tons, 367 kilograms, and 634 grams of narcotics were seized during operations against drug dealers in 71 provinces over the last 10 days, and 424 out of 894 detained suspects were arrested.

345 teams, 3,360 personnel, 11 aircraft, and 43 drug detector dogs were involved in the operations in Adana, Adıyaman, Afyonkarahisar, Ağrı, Aksaray, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Batman, Bayburt, Bingöl, Bitlis, Bolu, Burdur, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çankırı, Çorum, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Edirne, Elazığ, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Giresun, Hakkari, Hatay, Iğdır, Isparta, İstanbul, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Karaman, Kars, Kayseri, Kırıkkale, Kırklareli, Kilis, Kocaeli, Konya, Kütahya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Muğla, Muş, Nevşehir, Niğde, Ordu, Osmaniye, Rize, Sakarya, Samsun, Siirt, Sinop, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Trabzon, Uşak, Van, Yalova, Yozgat, and Zonguldak.

During the operations, 2 tons, 367 kilograms, and 634 grams of narcotics, along with 4 million 34 thousand 459 drug pills, were seized. Among the narcotics, 1 ton and 917 kilograms of synthetic pharmaceutical raw materials were also included.

While 424 of the 894 detained suspects were arrested, judicial control measures were applied to 93 of them. Procedures regarding the other suspects are ongoing.
