Access to TikTok has been restricted in schools in Azerbaijan. Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov provided information about this. According to him, restrictions have also been applied to images containing more than 200 harmful contents in schools.
What other new regulations are expected or necessary in schools in the near future?
elchi reports that education expert Elchin Afandi stated in an interview with Globalinfo.az that the restriction on TikTok has been in place since previous years:
“This year, the rules have been tightened somewhat. In addition, measures have been taken to restrict more than 200 harmful content posts in educational institutions, including those related to drug use, criminal incidents, and unethical images. This is a necessary and correct decision.”
The expert stated that the use of mobile phones by students during classes is prohibited:
“Along with this rule, restricting access to certain content also serves to prevent them from viewing harmful posts. In particular, the sharing of videos by students depicting violence against each other on TikTok has been one of the factors making the application of this restriction necessary.
Expectations are that in the future, not only TikTok but also access to other social networks containing harmful content for students will be restricted. Overall, the measures taken in this direction are important. Students’ main focus should be on science and education, and they should develop in these areas.”
