Chairman of the Party of Justice, Law, and Democracy (AHD), Member of Parliament Gudrat Hasanquliyev gave an interview to elchi.

– Mr. Gudrat, your colleague MP Arzuxan Alizade’s son, Ahmad, is implicated in a premeditated murder case, which has caused widespread public discussion. We would like to know your thoughts on this.
I know Arzuxan bey as an honest person from the People’s Movement, from my student years, who loves his people and fights for their happy future. Although parents bear moral responsibility for the actions of their children, our religion also states that society, friends, and the environment in which a child lives play a significant role in their upbringing, alongside their parents. Sometimes, for one reason or another, children are more exposed to the influence of their environment. Sometimes, an unfortunate event they face can completely change their lives, turning them upside down. Life is very complex. It is a big mistake to accuse Ahmad of murder without waiting for the statement from law enforcement agencies regarding the incident. In criminal law, there is a concept called “excess of the executor.” Other participants are not responsible for the criminal act of one of the participants that goes beyond the common intent. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has talented operatives, and the prosecutor’s office has competent investigators. I believe that an objective investigation will be conducted into this murder case, everyone’s actions will be qualified in accordance with criminal legislation, and everyone will receive their due punishment according to their degree of involvement. It is commendable that although we are an Islamic country, murders based on blood feuds rarely occur in society. One of the main reasons for this is the fair decisions made in courts for death cases. I would also like to specifically mention the principled stance demonstrated by the prosecutor’s office, which defends the state’s prosecution in the courts.
While wishing patience to Arzuxan bey and the family members of the person who died in the murder, I would like to note that such incidents happen to even the most famous people in the world. When US President Biden’s son Hunter was accused of lying to investigators regarding tax evasion and drug use, Biden pardoned him. Although my attitude towards Biden is quite critical and negative due to his unfair stance against Azerbaijan and his failure to stop the war against Ukraine, I appreciated this action. He stated that he made the decision to pardon because his son might receive different treatment due to his being the president. Of course, Hunter had not committed a crime against a person, but a family is considered a family because its members stand by each other in the most difficult times. A strong family means a strong state. I would very much like the investigation of the criminal case to be conducted objectively, without societal pressure on the investigative body because Arzuxan bey is a Member of Parliament.
