Historic indicator in Spain: Record 45.7 degrees heat recorded in September

An absolute temperature record for the month of September has been repeated in the history of weather observations in Spain. On September 3, thermometers showed 45.7 degrees Celsius in the municipality of El Granado in the autonomous community of Andalusia.

“Elchi” reports that the country’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has provided information about this.

The report states that this figure was the highest temperature recorded in the kingdom this year. “Aemet” notes that the air temperature has again reached the historic September maximum recorded in the municipality of Montoro in 2016.

Authorities had previously stated that the first half of 2026 was the hottest period in the kingdom in the last 65 years. June of the current year went down in history as the second hottest June, and July as the most sweltering and dry month since observations began in 1961.
