“Azerbaijan will be an active member of the Consultative Meeting format”.
“Elchi” reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this at the informal meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries.
The President stated that relations with Central Asian countries are one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.
“From the beginning of 2015 to this week, that is, over the last three and a half years, I have visited the fraternal Central Asian countries a total of 16 times. During this period, my colleagues have visited Azerbaijan 26 times. This statistic best demonstrates the dynamics and closeness of our relations, and the fact that today Central Asia and Azerbaijan have already become a single geopolitical and geoeconomic space. I would also like to note that today, for the first time, I am participating in the Consultative Meeting as a full member of this format. Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again express my gratitude to the heads of state of Central Asia for the historic decision they made last year in Uzbekistan to include Azerbaijan as a full member of this group. Previously, I participated in these meetings as an honorary guest, but now I am participating as a full member of the team. I would like to thank all my colleagues once again.
I want to assure you that Azerbaijan will be an active member of the Consultative Meeting format and, for its part, will spare no effort to further expand cooperation and strengthen ties between our countries and peoples,” the head of state noted.
