More than 23 thousand animal bites recorded in Azerbaijan in the first six months of the year.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Aytakin Gurbanova, head of the Department of Especially Dangerous Infections at the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health.
According to her, 11,670 of the incidents were caused by known animals (dogs, cats), and 11,108 were caused by unknown animals (dogs, cats, rats):
“85% of the figures account for dogs and cats, and the rest account for other animals (wolves, jackals, horses, cows, hedgehogs, etc.). Those exposed to animal bites have been provided with anti-rabies vaccination. Currently, there is a sufficient supply of anti-rabies vaccines in medical facilities.”
