During archaeological excavations at the Seljuk Square Cemetery, located in the Ahlat district of Turkey’s Bitlis province and considered one of the largest Turkish-Islamic cemeteries in the world, 16 new graves have been unearthed.

Excavation, restoration, and landscaping work are ongoing at the historical site with the permission and support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Scientists specializing in various fields have been involved in the research.
In the next phase of this year’s excavations, carried out within the framework of the “Heritage to the Future Project”, 16 new graves were discovered in a 400-square-meter area.
