Iran has commented on the detention of French diplomats.
“Elchi” reports that during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed his protest regarding the actions of two French diplomats in Tehran, which he stated were contrary to diplomatic norms.
He described such behavior as unacceptable and emphasized that the country’s laws and regulations must be respected:
“Adherence to diplomatic principles and norms is also a necessary condition for the continued operation of foreign missions.”
Araghchi called for preventing the recurrence of such actions and urged the French government to take the necessary measures.
It should be recalled that on July 20, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that two French diplomats had been subjected to an “extremely serious act of intimidation” by Iranian security forces.
