Passenger cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) will be phased out in Azerbaijan.
elchi reports that this is reflected in the document “Azerbaijan’s Long-Term Strategy for Low-Carbon Development”.
According to the document, it is planned to initially phase out the ICE fleet by 2035, increase the share of electric vehicles in the passenger car fleet, and support the adoption of electric vehicles through incentive programs.
By 2060, it is planned to reach 100% share of electric and other alternative energy-powered vehicles in the passenger car fleet, promote the adoption of electric vehicles through various incentive programs, and phase out ICE vehicles in a more gradual manner.
