Intellectuals gather in the homeland of Hasan bey Zardabi on the eve of National Press Day

On the eve of July 22 – National Press Day, a memorable meeting was held in Zardab district, the homeland of Hasan bey Zardabi, the founder of the Azerbaijani national press, with the participation of prominent intellectuals, as well as representatives of culture and art.

“Elchi” reports that the meeting, organized in a sincere and pleasant atmosphere on the banks of the Kura River, brought together well-known figures active in various fields.

Holding such a meeting on the eve of National Press Day in the native land of Hasan bey Zardabi gave the event a special meaning and symbolic content.

The event, organized by well-known businessman and philanthropist Vafa Muradzade and young writer Suleyman Tarverdi, was attended by professionals from various fields, intellectuals, members of martyrs’ families, veterans, and representatives of culture and art.

During the meeting, the history of the creation of the Azerbaijani national press and the unparalleled services of Hasan bey Zardabi in the enlightenment of our people and the formation of national consciousness were discussed. It was noted that the traditions of the national press, founded by the “Ekinchi” newspaper created by the great enlightener and thinker, live on and are being developed today.

The guests who gathered in their native Zardab shared their memories of the district and held a sincere exchange of views on the social and cultural life of the region, the role of intellectuals in society, and the preservation and transmission of national-moral values to future generations.

The meeting held on the banks of the Kura River was also remembered for its rich musical program. Prominent representative of the Azerbaijani mugham art, People’s Artist Alim Gasimov, Ashig Ali, and singer Abgul Mirzaliyev gave the event participants unforgettable moments with their beautiful performances.
