The meeting of the General Assembly of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) was held within the framework of the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission (ESC).
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
During the meeting, topics such as operational monitoring of earthquakes, exchange of seismological data, expansion of international cooperation, improvement of systems for rapid determination of earthquake parameters, and future directions of EMSC’s activities were discussed.
The Republican Seismic Survey Center under ANAS was represented at the event by Saida Ismayilova, Head of the Earthquake Research Bureau and PhD in Earth Sciences, and Sabina Kazimova, Head of the Earthquake Dynamics Department, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor. The center’s representatives joined the meeting online via the Zoom platform.
The participants exchanged views on modern development trends in European seismology, new approaches to monitoring seismicity, international exchange of operational seismological data, and prospects for scientific cooperation between seismological organizations.
The holding of the EMSC General Assembly within the framework of the ESC General Assembly is considered an important platform for strengthening scientific and institutional cooperation among the seismological communities of the European and Mediterranean regions.
