The relationship between the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the World Customs Organization (WCO) has been strong for many years and continues at the same level today.
elchi reports that this was stated by the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Ian Sanders, in his statement to journalists during his official visit to Azerbaijan.
According to him, Azerbaijan actively participates in the most important working and governing bodies of the World Customs Organization:
“In addition, Azerbaijan also carries out important activities at a more practical level. The country trains experts accredited by the World Customs Organization, and these experts participate in implementation and capacity-building programs carried out in other member countries of the organization. This is one of Azerbaijan’s important contributions.”
Ian Sanders added that in the last two years, Azerbaijan has been actively supporting the World Customs Organization by financing programs aimed at strengthening the capacity of other customs administrations:
“Thus, Azerbaijan shares its experience in the organization’s working bodies, contributes to the management process, and provides expert support and financial assistance. As a result, the experience and knowledge gained by Azerbaijan are more widely spread among the international customs community. This is truly a very strong partnership.”
