The “Turquoise Turkish Multicultural Festival” was held in Vaughan, Ontario, organized by the Turquoise Turkish Art and Culture Foundation, which operates in Toronto, Canada.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
Dedicated to Canada’s Multiculturalism Day, the festival brought together the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world and presented a colorful program to thousands of visitors. At the event, more than 40 stands representing the culture of Turkic peoples featured national cuisine, handicraft exhibitions, cultural presentations, pottery workshops, ebru art, Turkish coffee preparation and presentation, and entertainment programs for children, all of which were met with great interest. More than 25 professional music and dance groups representing Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Crimean Tatars, Uyghur, Tatar, Bashkir, and other communities showcased the rich cultural diversity and common heritage of the Turkic world.
The Azerbaijani stand set up at the event attracted special interest from visitors. Here, guests were provided with extensive information about Azerbaijan’s historical monuments, national dances, cultural values, and rich heritage.
In total, more than a thousand participants attended the festival, where the Azerbaijani House in Canada, the Tabriz Azerbaijani Music and Dance Ensemble, the Hamilton Azerbaijani Community, and the Support Center for Azerbaijani Women showcased our country’s rich cultural heritage. Performances by students of the “My Azerbaijan” weekend school, operating under the Azerbaijani House, provided the audience with pleasant and memorable moments.
The professional performance demonstrated by the soloists, dancers, and musicians of the Tabriz Azerbaijani Music and Dance Ensemble in their national and colorful costumes captivated the audience.
Turquoise Foundation leaders Nasrin Attari and Shervin Shadpur spoke about the foundation’s activities in promoting Turkish cultural heritage in Canada. They emphasized the importance of strengthening intercultural dialogue, preserving common heritage, and fostering mutual understanding among different communities.
At the end of the festival, all performers were awarded, and special thanks were expressed to the volunteers, sponsors, partners, and members of the organizing committee who contributed to the successful holding of the event.
Community members expressed their gratitude to the Azerbaijani state, including the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for their support in organizing the festival.
