Turkey’s Victory Day celebrated in Nakhchivan

On August 28, an event was held in Nakhchivan on the occasion of the Victory Day of the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Armed Forces Day.

“Elchi” reports that the event was attended by Ceyhun Jalilov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Asip Kaya, the Consul General of Türkiye in Nakhchivan, state and government officials, and representatives of the public. First, the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Türkiye was commemorated with a minute of silence, and the national anthems of both countries were played.

In his speech, the Consul General of Türkiye in Nakhchivan, Asip Kaya, spoke about the historical significance of August 30 – Victory Day, and emphasized that Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are built on unbreakable bonds of brotherhood. It was noted that the Azerbaijani people stood by the brotherly country during Türkiye’s War of Independence. These relations, which have passed the tests of history, are successfully developing today at the level of strategic partnership and alliance.

Ceyhun Jalilov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, congratulated the Turkish people on the occasion of Victory Day and Turkish Armed Forces Day.

Ceyhun Jalilov stated that Victory Day is one of the glorious pages of the Turkish people’s struggle for freedom and independence. He noted that the Great Victory won in 1922 under the leadership of Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a decisive stage in Türkiye’s struggle for independence and paved the way for the establishment of the modern Turkish state.

In the speech, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations are based on common history, language, culture, and national-moral values. It was brought to attention that as a result of the political will of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the relations have risen to the level of strategic alliance, and the Shusha Declaration signed in 2021 has given the relations a new political and legal content. It was stated that the decisive political, moral, and diplomatic support provided by Türkiye to Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War once again demonstrated the unbreakability of the brotherhood. It was also noted that the essence of Azerbaijan’s November 8 – Victory Day and Türkiye’s August 30 – Victory Day is based on national unity, love for the Motherland, and the determination to fight for justice.

It was emphasized that Nakhchivan is one of the historically formed important bridges of Azerbaijan-Türkiye brotherhood, and the importance of further developing relations between Nakhchivan and Türkiye in various fields was noted.

In the end, wishes for good health, prosperity, and new victories were extended to the Turkish people, and wishes for peace, tranquility, and welfare were extended to the peoples of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

The event continued with an official reception.
