elchi reports, citing “Reuters”, that Nepal’s Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has announced the initial amount of damage caused by the devastating landslides and floods in the country.

The minister stated that the country needs a minimum of 4-5 billion US dollars to fully eliminate the consequences and restore infrastructure. He emphasized that this is not yet the final figure, as the assessment of losses is ongoing.

It should be recalled that on August 25, a massive flood caused by the sudden collapse of a glacier on Langtang-Lirung mountain devastated 6 regions of Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. According to the latest official data, more than 600 people have died as a result of the disaster, and nearly 2,500 residents are still considered missing.
