British police investigate the murder of former MP Ann Widdecombe

British police have launched an investigation into the murder of former MP and politician Ann Widdecombe, whose death was reported earlier today without the cause being disclosed.

elchi reports, citing British media, that 78-year-old Widdecombe was found dead in her home this morning.

Forensic experts are working at the scene, and the area around the house has been cordoned off. Investigators are conducting house-to-house inquiries and reviewing footage from security cameras, dashcams, and video doorbells. Police presence in the area has been increased.

“We are deploying all necessary resources to determine exactly what happened and to find the person responsible. We believe the suspect is a white male,” said Chief Inspector Ilona Rosson.

Earlier, reports of Widdecombe’s death had circulated without any details. The politician served as a Conservative MP in the British Parliament from 1987 to 2010 and held ministerial positions in John Major’s government. She joined the Brexit Party in 2019 and was elected as a Member of the European Parliament, later continuing her political career with Reform UK.

Widdecombe was also widely known for her appearances in television projects, including the BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” show.
