In recent days, materials that do not reflect the truth and are aimed at misleading public opinion regarding Azerbaijan have been published in the British newspapers “The Independent” and “The Guardian”, as well as in the Russian language service of the “BBC” broadcasting corporation.
“Elchi” reports that this was noted in a statement issued by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA).
The Agency states that these articles, based on clearly one-sided approaches and opinions, create the impression of being part of a targeted information campaign aimed at our country’s international image.
“The authors of the articles did not take any steps to investigate the topic in a balanced and objective manner, nor did they seek the official position of the opposing party; instead, they preferred to present theses based solely on their own subjective opinions to the public. This raises serious doubts that the materials in question are of a political nature, stemming from the interests of certain lobby circles, and causes deep regret.
Appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that such cases, which aim to cast a shadow over our country’s sovereignty, domestic and foreign policy, as well as its international reputation, are investigated accordingly and that necessary steps are taken.
We once again call on the mentioned media outlets (“The Independent”, “The Guardian”, and “BBC”) to remain committed to the professional principles they declare, to refrain from publishing one-sided, biased, and untruthful materials about Azerbaijan, and to restore impartial information provision in accordance with journalistic ethics,” the agency emphasized.
