Iran summoned British Ambassador Hugo Shorter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding “security accusations” made by British officials against the Tehran government.
elchi reports that, according to the Mehr News Agency, Alireza Yousefi, the Director General for Western Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented a note of protest to the ambassador regarding the position of Great Britain.
In the statement, it was claimed that the allegations by British officials that Iran is planning actions targeting security in Great Britain are “baseless and false.”
It was alleged that these accusations are intended to deflect criticism against Great Britain’s policies that violate international law and its support for the US and Israel.
The Iranian side also accused Great Britain of “hosting and supporting anti-Iranian terror networks and violent groups” and called on the London government to stop these activities. The statement claimed that Great Britain’s hosting of these networks, which are allegedly funded and managed by Israel, is inconsistent with its international legal obligation not to support terrorism and that this situation must end immediately.
