On June 30, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited the culture and recreation park named after Mahammad Fuzuli in Sheki city.
elchi reports that Leyla Aliyeva was informed about the restoration and reconstruction work to be carried out in the area.
It was stated that a number of major restoration and reconstruction works are planned for the park, which was established in 1951.
It was noted that the park area once featured the “Summer Theater,” which was the favorite recreation spot for city residents and guests, where music and theater groups, as well as renowned cultural and art figures, performed periodically. It was brought to attention that the “Summer Theater,” with a capacity of 1800 spectators, hosted performances by Azerbaijan’s prominent pop and opera singer Rashid Behbudov, People’s Artist Zeynab Khanlarova, and the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor and composer Niyazi between 1975 and 1980, and in 1981, theater groups performed with the participation of Nasiba Zeynalova and Hajibaba Bagirov. Also, between 1982 and 1995, concerts by well-known singers and khanandas such as Alibaba Mammadov, Mahabbat Kazimov, Mammadbagir Bagirzade, Malakkhanim Ayyubova, Nisa Gasimova, Sakhavat Mammadov, Zaur Rzayev, and others were held there.
Within the framework of the repair work carried out in the park area, the bust of the great Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli was removed from the park, restored, and placed back in the same recreation area.
It was noted that the main goal during the restoration work is to restore the frescoes, the works of local sculptors, and the theater, to bring the audience back here, and to turn the park into a family recreation spot.
