For Azerbaijan, peace is already a reality.
“Elchi” reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this on July 1 in Baku while making a press statement with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The head of state noted that he and Ursula von der Leyen discussed the processes of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“In fact, peace has been achieved. We are already seeing the benefits of this. We have taken a number of unilateral steps to demonstrate that peace is not just on paper.”
The President recalled that Azerbaijan has removed all restrictions on the transit of goods from its territory to Armenia. Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has started exporting oil products, including gasoline, to Armenia:
“In short, we are demonstrating that for us, peace is already a reality. We are learning to live in conditions of peace, because we lived under occupation for 30 years. We must do everything in our power to strengthen peace so that it becomes a lasting peace.”
