Approximately 24,000 hectares of land have burned in an ongoing forest fire in the state of Utah, and evacuation orders have been issued for numerous residential areas and campsites.
elchi reports that, according to ABC News, the fire, which began on June 22 in Beaver County, Utah, has spread rapidly due to high temperatures, drought, and winds reaching approximately 80 kilometers per hour.
The US Forest Service stated that the fire has reached approximately 24,000 hectares.
State officials noted that the fire has not yet been brought under control and poses a risk of reaching residential areas.
Officials announced that mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for numerous residential areas and campsites due to this risk.
The US National Weather Service (NWS) has also maintained a high fire risk warning for large parts of Utah, warning that low humidity and strong winds could cause existing fires to grow and new ones to start.
Officials stated that the fire in Beaver County is the largest of the hundreds of fires raging in Utah, and that 353 fires are currently active in the state.
