The first day of talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington yesterday ended without results, and in some sense, even a setback was observed.
elchi reports that Axios reporter Barak Ravid wrote about this on the “X” social network, citing two informed sources.
According to them, the negotiations became tense throughout the day, although Israeli officials claim the atmosphere was “pleasant.” Ravid noted that the parties maintain serious disagreements regarding the scale and timing of the potential withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory.
“From my conversations with sources familiar with the talks, I get the impression that the first day of negotiations was so unproductive that American mediators decided to start everything over today in the hope of softening the parties’ positions,” he noted.
