In parallel with the establishment of a ceasefire between the two countries, Israel must begin withdrawing its troops from Lebanese territory.
“Elchi” reports that French President Emmanuel Macron wrote about this on the “X” social network following his conversations with his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Nabih Berri.
“I reaffirmed to each of them France’s commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The establishment of a solid ceasefire that all parties must adhere to should allow for the start of a parallel process for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory and the redeployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces to ensure the state’s exclusive right to use force,” he wrote.
According to Macron, France is ready to provide concrete support for this process and to mobilize the international community together with the Lebanese government in the coming weeks to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces and meet the needs of displaced persons.
