Hikmet Hajiyev: After the resolution of the conflict with Armenia, Azerbaijan has transitioned to a middle power concept

Since gaining independence, Azerbaijan has been working on the Middle Corridor.

elchi reports citing AZERTAC that these remarks were made by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, during his online speech at the Trans-Caspian Forum.

He stated that after the resolution of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the establishment of peace in the region, new dimensions and opportunities have emerged in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, expanding towards new geographies.

“Azerbaijan is a South Caucasian country. At the same time, we belong to the Central Asian family and the Caspian Sea region. Azerbaijan has identities related to Europe and the Middle East. All these values do not contradict each other; they are compatible. After the resolution of the conflict with Armenia, Azerbaijan has transitioned to a middle power concept. For us, the middle power concept is not measured only by size, economy, and population. It is a network of partnerships between countries,” the Assistant to the President added.
