Following the second leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round against Lyon, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Fenerbahçe, as well as team players Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood.
elchi reports that the Turkish representative has issued an official statement regarding this matter.
The club’s statement notes that Fenerbahçe will take the necessary defense measures before the relevant UEFA bodies to protect the rights and interests of both its players and the club.
It should be recalled that by defeating its opponent on aggregate (3:2), Fenerbahçe has qualified for the Champions League League (ed. – group) stage after 18 years.
It should be noted that before and during the match, Lyon stands chanted insulting slogans against former Marseille player Matteo Guendouzi. Local fans who tried to enter the pitch after Fenerbahçe’s second goal were detained by special security.
After the final whistle, Guendouzi’s celebration on the pitch was met with a harsh reaction from Lyon players, leading to tension between the sides. In the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms, a scandal erupted when one of Lyon’s coaches, Antonio Ferreira, physically attacked Guendouzi.
