EU: We are ready to take additional measures for security in the Strait of Hormuz

“The European Union (EU) is ready to take additional measures to protect its security and interests, including freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, if necessary.”

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Christian Wigand, spokesperson for the EU’s Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Service.

He stated that Brussels shares the same position as the US regarding Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region and Tehran’s nuclear program. The EU is also seriously concerned about the continuation of Iran’s military cooperation with Russia.

“The European Union has imposed large-scale sanctions to prevent Iran from using the global economy and financial system for hostile activities and to undermine international security,” Wigand emphasized.

The EU official added that Brussels will continue to work closely with the US, other G7 members, and international partners to maintain pressure on Iran and help de-escalate tensions and establish stability in the region.
