On September 3, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Pia Kauma.
“Elchi” reports that the guest stated that one of the existing conflicts in the OSCE area had been resolved and sustainable peace had been ensured in the region, and in this regard, congratulated the head of our state on the achievements made in the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Expressing his gratitude for the congratulations, the head of our state noted with regret that the OSCE Minsk Group, which was responsible for the resolution of the conflict for nearly 30 years, did not achieve any results in the negotiation process and that the UN Security Council resolutions demanding the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territory of Azerbaijan were not implemented.
President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan ended the conflict itself through military-political means and ensured its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with Azerbaijan’s contacts and political dialogue with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, unlike some other European parliamentary institutions.
The importance of demonstrating a balanced approach to the entire OSCE area on the agenda of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was also emphasized.
Intercultural dialogue was touched upon at the meeting, and Azerbaijan’s role and contributions to this process were noted with satisfaction.
Touching upon the importance of the 4th International Mine Action Conference on “Mitigating Environmental Impact: Mobilizing Resources for Safe and Green Future” held in Baku, the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly stated that the landmine problem is also being discussed on the agenda of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
