Four people, including two children, were killed and five others injured in a drone strike in the southern Tigray region of Ethiopia.
According to “Elchi” citing AFP, two local residents reported this.
According to them, the attack occurred on the evening of October 20 in the Finarwa settlement, located about 85 kilometers south-west of the state’s administrative center, Mekele.
“The drone strike was carried out while the goat sellers were loading the animals onto the car,” a local priest, who asked not to be named, told the agency.
He said that four people, including two children, died at the scene. “I personally wrapped the bodies of all the victims for burial,” the priest added.
Another local resident confirmed the number of dead and the circumstances of the incident. According to him, the evacuation of the injured to the hospital was complicated by the lack of an ambulance.
AFP notes that it could not independently confirm the reports. A representative of the Ethiopian Federal Army has not yet responded to the agency’s request for comment.
Fighting continues in the Tigray region between federal forces and rebels.
