Zelensky has ruled out the possibility of holding phone talks with Russia regarding the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
elchi reports that according to the TASS agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected the idea of holding phone talks with Russia to resolve the conflict.
The Ukrainian leader stated at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: “If we talk on the phone, Russia will use it as an excuse to avoid face-to-face meetings in the future.”
Zelensky added that he considers phone calls “meaningless.” Furthermore, he once again ruled out the possibility of traveling to Moscow to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“No one will support a trip to Moscow,” he emphasized.
Earlier, Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov noted that although Zelensky claims to be open to negotiations, he refuses to go to Moscow because he is simply “playing to the audience.” According to Dzhabarov, if Zelensky were truly ready for negotiations, he would have gone to Moscow long ago.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Putin has never refused to talk to Zelensky; if the Ukrainian president had called, Putin would have answered. Ushakov also emphasized that the doors are open for Zelensky to come to Moscow.
