Perspectives of energy partnership between Azerbaijan and the USA discussed

A meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by Caleb Orr, Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs of the USA.

Information about this was provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Energy.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to Caleb Orr for participating in “Baku Energy Week”. The documents signed within the framework of “Baku Energy Week” were assessed as indicators of the development of the Azerbaijan-US energy partnership at a new stage. It was emphasized that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the USA in the energy sector is strategic in nature, and the partnership formed over many years in the oil and gas sector is an important segment of bilateral relations. It was noted that projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and the Southern Gas Corridor, implemented with the support of the USA, have made significant contributions to Europe’s energy security.

Caleb Orr said that the USA highly respects Azerbaijan’s role in the global energy market. “Azerbaijan is the cradle of the modern oil industry, and we appreciate Azerbaijan, as well as your President, for how these resources are managed.” It was stated that along with artificial intelligence, digital technologies, infrastructure, and the development of trade corridors, energy is also a priority for the first meeting of the US-Azerbaijan Economic Dialogue.

At the meeting, the activities of US companies in Azerbaijan’s energy sector in the context of the decisive role of oil and gas in the global energy balance, new exploration and production projects with “Chevron” and “Exxon Mobil” companies, as well as prospective areas of cooperation regarding the development of energy infrastructure were discussed. Also, the energy components of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, as well as cooperation perspectives on regional electricity interconnectors were reviewed.
