In Singapore, people who collect or pick up and eat fruits that have fallen from trees in public places face heavy penalties.

“Elchi” reports with reference to Bakupost.az that fruit trees planted in public places in Singapore are considered state property.

Therefore, citizens are not allowed to pick fruit from trees or take fallen fruit without permission from the relevant authorities.

In a statement regarding the issue, the Singapore Ministry of National Development states that trees located on state land and their fruits belong to the state.

Those who pick fruit without permission in public parks can be fined up to 5,000 (6,641 AZN) Singapore dollars under the Parks and Trees Act. If the act is committed in nature reserves or national parks, the penalty can be up to 50,000 (66,414 AZN) Singapore dollars or up to 6 months in prison.
