MES suspends operations of a store in Khatai district – VIDEO

During an inspection conducted by the State Fire Control Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at a wholesale grocery store located at 2 Ashig Alasgar Street, Khatai district, a number of violations in the field of fire safety were discovered.

Information about this was provided to elchi by the MES press service.

It was reported that during the inspection, it was found that the automatic fire alarm system was not fully installed in the facility, and the existing device was faulty; the electrical system was not installed in accordance with the requirements of the “Rules for the Installation of Electrical Installations”; specifically, cable and wire connections and terminals were not secured with special clamps or welding to prevent the formation of conductive resistance that could cause a fire hazard; faulty electrical equipment with damaged insulation was being used; electrical wires were not laid over non-combustible materials; the facility was not fully equipped with primary fire extinguishing equipment; evacuation routes were blocked with various materials; no evacuation plan had been prepared for the evacuation of people in case of fire; wooden structures in the facility were not treated with fire-retardant solutions; the area of the facility was not cleared of combustible waste; illuminated signs with the word “Exit” for the evacuation of people were not installed; and the facility’s real estate was not insured in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Compulsory Insurance”.

Thus, the current situation shows that the continued operation of the facility could lead to a fire that could expand rapidly at any moment, making a tragedy inevitable.

“Taking into account the above, a decision has been made to suspend the operations of the wholesale grocery store located at 2 Ashig Alasgar Street, Khatai district, Baku, where facts of gross violations of fire safety norms and rules were discovered, and a copy of the decision has been presented to the representative of the facility,” the statement said.
