The US has delivered 9 amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) to Romania.
“Elchi” reports that the press service of the US Embassy in Romania has released information regarding this.
It is noted that from this moment on, Romanian soldiers are beginning to master the operation of the new vehicles, with expert advisors from the US Marine Corps providing training.
“US Ambassador to Romania Darryl Nirenberg visited the Babadag (Tulcea County) training ground to observe the 307th Marine Regiment’s preparation for an important stage of modernization,” the embassy stated.
AAV7A1 amphibious assault vehicles are designed to transport up to 21 marines and equipment from warships to enemy shores.
In July 2023, the Pentagon announced that the US State Department had approved the sale of 16 amphibious assault vehicles and related equipment to Romania, valued at $120.5 million.
