Political consultations held between Azerbaijan and Colombia

On April 29, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Juana Castro Santamaria.

According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the MFA, the current state and development prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Colombia were discussed during the meeting.

The parties exchanged views on expanding political dialogue, promoting economic and trade relations, as well as cooperation opportunities in a number of areas of mutual interest, including tourism, visa liberalization, education, culture, humanitarian affairs, student exchange, inter-parliamentary relations, and others. The growing interest in the Spanish language in our country and the participation of our citizens in programs organized in this field were noted with satisfaction.

Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29, its chairmanship in a number of international platforms, and its leadership in the region were appreciated.

The parties also discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of multilateral platforms, including strengthening mutual support in international organizations.

Taking into account that both countries suffer from mines, the importance of cooperation in the field of demining was emphasized.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.

On the same day, the next round of political consultations between Azerbaijan and Colombia was held. The consultations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Juana Castro Santamaria from the Colombian side.
