Within the framework of the “State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025–2030”, the creation of pedestrian zones (corridors) in Baku continues.
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA).
This time, the possibilities for optimally connecting two more large pedestrian zones in the capital, Ataturk and Antena parks, have been analyzed. The project was submitted to the Transport Coordination Council, reviewed, and approved.
Work will soon begin at the northern exit of the “Ganjlik” metro station, in the square adjacent to the entrance of Ataturk Park.
It should be noted that this area has always been a place with numerous obstacles for pedestrians and unregulated parking spaces. The goal of the implemented project is to transform this area into a comfortable urban environment for pedestrians as well.
Within the framework of the project, a green zone, benches and gazebos, a children’s playground, and other facilities will be built at the entrance of Ataturk Park to create a modern and attractive public space. This will establish a pedestrian connection between Ataturk and Antena parks, as well as public transport and commercial facilities. The project will also increase the safety of residents and tourists while walking.
