The Main State Traffic Police Department has issued an appeal to drivers in connection with the start of the autumn season.

It was stated that precipitation, fog, and wind during the autumn season affect road conditions, creating additional risks for drivers and pedestrians:
“In such conditions, where visibility is reduced and road surfaces are slippery, careless behavior and traffic violations can lead to serious consequences. The Main State Traffic Police Department urges drivers to choose a safe speed appropriate for weather and road conditions, maintain a safe following distance between vehicles, and avoid sudden braking and dangerous maneuvers. When approaching pedestrian crossings, intersections, and areas around educational institutions, speed should be reduced in advance, and special attention should be paid to the movement of pedestrians.”
It was noted that before traveling, drivers should check the technical condition of their vehicles, paying particular attention to ensuring that windshield wipers, external lighting devices, and the braking system are in good working order. The suitability of tires for the season and road conditions is also one of the essential requirements for safe driving.
It was noted that pedestrians should also be careful on the roads, cross the road only at designated places, check both directions of the road before starting to cross, and correctly estimate the distance of approaching vehicles. In conditions of limited visibility, it is important to avoid distracting behaviors, including the use of mobile phones while crossing the road.
“The Main State Traffic Police Department calls on all road users to take into account the changing weather conditions, follow traffic rules, and act responsibly regarding safety,” the appeal stated.
