US President Donald Trump has stated that the pressure exerted on Iran is proving effective.
“Elchi” reports that Trump announced this to the BBC over the phone.
Trump was asked about his statement regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons against Iran, which was perceived as a potential threat, saying “an entire civilization will be wiped out tonight.”
“The other side wants to reach an agreement very much. Therefore, whatever I say and whatever I do, it seems to be working very well,” he replied.
Previously, Trump spoke about a “decisive night” when an entire civilization could be destroyed for Iran.
It should be recalled that on February 28, the US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran and strikes were carried out on a number of cities. The operation led to an escalation in the Middle East, all countries of the Persian Gulf were involved in the conflict, and this caused the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, the US, and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8, 2026, which Trump later extended indefinitely.
The parties attempted to hold negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Pakistan, but the first round of dialogue on April 11-12 did not yield any results.
As pressure on Tehran, the US announced the blockade of Iranian ports and passage through the Strait of Hormuz. In turn, Iran stated that it had already blocked the Strait of Hormuz for ships heading to Persian Gulf countries. The dynamically changing situation in the region has caused a global energy crisis.
